Beauty may not be skin deep, but the beauty industry can be. Weather you’re in the market for a perfect nose, a long neck, straight teeth, scaring, rounder eyes, tattoos, big boobs, large earlobes, double eyelids, a thin waist, a v-line jawed, silky hair, rounder butt, less wrinkles, more wrinkles, or thicker thighs... The beauty industry can provide you with the perfect surgery, injection, or product to alter your appearance. And, depending on what part of the world you’re in, the one consistent is we’re all hungry for beauty. It would be easy to write it off as vanity, but perhaps this search for beauty might be what unites us. And, once truly understood, has the power to change the way we look at beauty.

We’ve explored cultures around the world through their cuisine in shows like “Chef’s Table.” We’ve explored fashion and design in shows like “Project Runway.” But we’ve never looked at the uniting force of beauty and how it impacts our culture as a means to reshape this often shame-oriented industry and change the lens we look at our desire for beauty.
